The Landesliga Hessen 1945/46 was the first season of the top Hessian amateur class after the Second World War . It was located one level below the Oberliga Süd and consisted of two groups. The two group winners of the regional league played after the end of the season promotion games to the Oberliga Süd, in which Viktoria Aschaffenburg prevailed. A descent did not take place.

background

The 1945/46 season in the then Greater Hesse mentioned country Hesse was dominated by two rival associations, the South German Football Association and the newly established Sports Association Greater Hesse .

The Sports Association of Greater Hesse initially set up the Main League for the sports districts of Frankfurt, Wiesbaden and Darmstadt and the Kurhessen League for the sports districts of Kassel and Fulda . The main league started playing on December 2, 1945. On December 19, 1945, the South German Football Association decided in turn to form a two-track state league Greater Hesse as the substructure of the Oberliga Süd. Then the main league was dissolved again after just a few games. Their clubs were integrated into the two groups of the regional league, which began playing on December 30, 1945. With SV Kurhessen Kassel and Borussia Fulda , two Kurhessian clubs also took part in the regional league. The results of the games already played in the main league have been adopted. The Kurhessenliga started playing on January 6, 1946.

In February 1946 a specialist football committee was formed in Greater Hesse , from which the Hessian Football Association (HFV) emerged in July 1946 . For the following season, a five-track regional league was set up, in which both existing regional league groups and the Kurhessenliga were absorbed.
