TSV Malente

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Malente gymnastics and sports club from 1900 is a sports club from the municipality of Malente in Schleswig-Holstein . The first men's team in field handball belonged to the first-class Schleswig-Holstein regional league for one year in 1956/57.

Handball

In the immediate post-war period, the field handball men were temporarily the second strongest force behind VfL Bad Schwartau within what was then the Eutin district, and in 1956 they were promoted to the highest national league for the first and only time. In the course of the season, which included duels against THW Kiel , the Malenter missed relegation with two points behind Hohner SV Eintracht . In the period that followed, TSV fell behind its local rivals from PSV Eutin , but made it into the national league again in 1959 - after the introduction of the league, however, it was only second-rate. After relegated again in 1960, the club then remained permanently on the lower league levels and should no longer achieve national successes in indoor handball. With Horst Wiemann the youth work of the club in the 1970s produced the most famous TSV player, who was in the handball Bundesliga for several years for THW Kiel and SG Flensburg-Handewitt .

The handball division had been one of the two parent clubs of the SG Malente / Dörfergemeinschaft since 1989, alongside the TSV Dörfergemeinschaft, before the merger with Eutin 08 and TS Riemann Eutin to form HSG Holsteinische Schweiz in 2014 .

Other branches

The TSV footballers reached the third highest division several times in the 1950s and 1960s, but in their club's history they were mainly active on the lower regional level. Well-known former players and coaches are Tim Cassel , Lars Unger and Carsten Nemitz .

In addition, the club was represented three times from 1953 by Helma Wiemann at the German Athletics Championships and in the 2013/14 season by Hans-Jürgen Jähnke at the German Senior Badminton Championships.
