Tadeusz Paciorkiewicz

Tadeusz Paciorkiewicz (born October 17, 1916 in Sierpc , † November 21, 1998 in Warsaw ) was a Polish composer , organist and music teacher .

Life

Paciorkiewicz studied organ under Bronisław Rutkowski at the Warsaw Conservatory from 1936 to 1939 . After the Second World War he performed as an organ virtuoso and choir director and at the same time studied composition with Kazimierz Sikorski at the State University of Music in Łódź .

In 1945 he founded a music school in Płock , which he directed until 1949. From 1949 to 1959 he taught music theory at the Łódź Academy of Music. In 1954 he became a teacher and in 1968 a professor at the Warsaw Music Academy . In addition, he was dean of the Faculty of Composition, Music Theory and Conducting from 1963 to 1969 and rector of the Warsaw Music Academy from 1969 to 1971.

Paciorkiewicz composed operas and film music, theater music, orchestral works, chamber and choral music, works for solo instruments and songs. He has received many awards for his compositional and music pedagogical work.
