The Taverna , also known as Tafersbach , is a roughly 15 km long left tributary of the Sense in the Swiss canton of Friborg . It drains a section of the eastern Freiburg Central Plateau and belongs to the catchment area of ​​the Rhine .

The headwaters of the Taverna are located at about 650 m above sea level. M. on the Molasse plateau between the villages of Düdingen and Tafers . Several streams, including one that drains the Fragnièremoos, come together at Tafers to form a taverna. This initially turns to the east, but draws a sharp curve at Sankt Antoni , only to flow north.

From Tafers on, the taverna is usually cut around 50 to 100 m into the surrounding plateau, but has a flat valley floor around 200 m wide throughout. East of Schmitten (FR) flows into the Lettiswilbach, the largest side stream. In the agricultural areas around Tafers, the water was straightened and the embankments fortified. The taverna is characterized by a pluvial drainage regime .
