Day labor gardens
The day labor gardens form a 9.4 hectare landscape protection area in Karlsruhe (protection area number 2.12.016).
Location and characteristics
In the natural area of the Black Forest fringes in the Hohenwettersbach district south of the mountain forest settlement, the area includes the "Taglöhnergärten", "Hinter den Taglöhnergärten", "Waldäcker" and part of the "Rotenbüschle" areas.
The designation as a landscape protection area was made to “safeguard and maintain the scenic beauty and uniqueness of the extensively used orchards with meadows close to the forest as an ecologically valuable compensation area in the city area and as a habitat for numerous rare and endangered animal species, especially birds, amphibians and insects. "
Toponymy and History
The day labor gardens are land that the Hohenwettersbacher day laborers use for their own use.
The landscape protection area was placed under protection by ordinance of the Karlsruhe Regional Council of November 27, 1985.
