State government Jógvan Sundstein II
The second state government headed by Jógvan Sundstein as prime minister was also the fifteenth government of the Faroe Islands after obtaining internal self-government ( heimastýri ) in 1948.
government
The government was formed on June 22, 1989 and existed until January 15, 1991. It was composed of a three-party coalition of Fólkaflokkurin , Tjóðveldisflokkurin and Sambandsflokkurin .
Jógvan Sundstein from Fólkaflokkurin headed the government as Prime Minister. In addition, he was also responsible for foreign and social affairs. Signar Hansen vom Tjóðveldisflokkurin was Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Education, Culture and the Environment. Olaf Olsen from Fólkaflokkurin was Minister for Industry, Health and Agriculture, Jógvan I. Olsen from Sambandsflokkurin Minister for Fisheries and Energy, Ivan Johannesen from Sambandsflokkurin Minister for Finance, Maritime and Municipal Affairs and finally Jóngerð Purkhús from Tjóðveldisflokkurin, Minister for Transport and Northern Affairs .
The governing coalition Sundstein II was essentially a continuation of the previous coalition of Fólkaflokkurin and Tjóðveldisflokkurin. Only the two small coalition partners, Sjálvstýrisflokkurin and Kristiligi Fólkaflokkurin , were replaced by the Sambandsflokkurin.
The governing coalition broke up in early October 1990 when the first signs of the severe financial and economic crisis that hit the Faroe Islands in the first half of the 1990s became noticeable. New elections were scheduled for November 17, 1990 , which brought Atli Dam's Social Democrats back to power. As a major coalition partner, however, the Fólkaflokkurin was represented by three ministers, including Jógvan Sundstein as deputy prime minister.
