State government Peter Mohr Dam I
The first state government headed by Peter Mohr Dam as Prime Minister was the fourth government of the Faroe Islands after obtaining internal self-government ( heimastýri ) in 1948.

The government existed from January 9, 1959 to January 4, 1963. It was a coalition of Javnaðarflokkurin , Sambandsflokkurin and Sjálvstýrisflokkurin . which was headed by Petur Mohr Dam from Javnaðarflokkurin. He was also Minister for Foreign Affairs, Social Affairs, Transport and Industry. Kristian Djurhuus vom Fólkaflokkurin became Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Taxation, Fisheries and Justice. Niels Winther Poulsen vom Sjálvstýrisflokkurin was Minister for Local Affairs, Education and Agriculture.
It was the first government with a social democratic prime minister and also the first government in which the ministers were given fixed responsibilities. In previous governments, all ministers had been without portfolio.
