Peter Mohr Dam (born August 11, 1898 in Skopun , † November 8, 1968 in Tórshavn on the Faroe Islands ) was a Faroese teacher and social democratic politician.

PM Dam from Tvøroyri was a co-founder in 1926 and chairman of the Faroese Social Democratic Party from 1936 until his death in 1968 . From 1958 to 1963 and from 1967 to 1968 he was Prime Minister of the Faroe Islands . From 1928 to 1968 he was a member of the Løgting for 40 years , only interrupted by his time as Prime Minister. From 1948 to 1957 and from 1964 to 1967 was also a member of the Folketing .

family

Peter Mohr Dam's parents are Ole Christian Dam (born 1867) from Kollafjørður and Sára Maria (born Olsen) from Vestmanna . He is the nephew of Johan CF Dam , one of the founders of Sambandsflokkurin . Peter Mohr Dam was married to Ragnhild Strøm from Trongisvágur . He is the father of Atli P. Dam , another "heavyweight" in Faroese politics. His granddaughter Helena Dam á Neystabø is also a well-known social democrat. Another granddaughter is Rigmor Dam , Minister of Culture of the Faroe Islands since September 2015.

It is noteworthy that the Prime Ministers Kristian Djurhuus and Hákun Djurhuus were also his relatives.
