The first Faroese state government with Kaj Leo Johannesen as Prime Minister was formed on September 26, 2008, reorganized in spring 2011 and dismissed on November 14, 2011.

Education and composition

The state government was composed of a bourgeois-social-democratic three-party coalition, in which the Sambandsflokkurin and the Fólkaflokkurin and the Javnaðarflokkurin were involved.

On April 6, 2011, the Fólkaflokkurin withdrew his ministers from the government and resigned from the coalition due to differences of opinion on economic policy. The two remaining unionist parties then formed the Faroe Islands' first minority government.

On May 4, 2011, the composition of the rebuilt government was presented. Prime Minister Kaj Leo Johannesen also took on responsibility for foreign affairs. Economy Minister Johan Dahl also took over the Ministry of Fisheries and Health Minister John Johannessen also took over internal affairs with the exception of communal affairs, which were taken over by the Minister of Culture, Helena Dam á Neystabø.
