Løgtingswahl 1962
The 1962 Løgtingswahl in the Faroe Islands took place on November 8, 1962. It was the 4th election since the achievement of internal self-government ( heimastýri ) in 1948.
The biggest winner was the Fólkaflokkurin . It grew by over 2% and received an additional seat.
The biggest loser with more than 3% was the Sambandsflokkurin . Also Tjóðveldisflokkurin suffered 2.6% losses. Both parties gave up one seat each. The other three parties were able to hold their previous seats.
The social democratic Javnaðarflokkurin, headed by the previous Prime Minister Peter Mohr Dam , remained the strongest party in Løgting with 8 out of 29 seats, but Hákun Djurhuus from Fólkaflokkurin was able to form a coalition with Sjálvstýrisflokkurin and Tjóðveldisflokkurin and bring about a change of government.
The previous government of Peter Mohr Dam I was replaced by the government of Hákun Djurhuus .

The total number of MPs in Løgting has been reduced from 30 to 29. Six parties took part in the election, all of which entered parliament.
