The 2008 Løgtingswahl in the Faroe Islands took place on January 19th, 2008. It was the 17th parliamentary election after internal self-government ( heimastýri ) had been achieved in 1948.

The left-wing Republican Tjóðveldisflokkurin became the largest party . who could make easy profits without winning an additional seat. The conservative Fólkaflokkurin and the unionist Sambandsflokkurin were also able to keep their share of the vote, while the social democratic Javnaðarflokkurin had to give up a seat to the Prime Minister and only represented the fourth largest party in terms of percentage.

The clear winners of this election were the two smaller parties, Miðflokkurin and Sjálvstýrisflokkurin , who each received an additional seat.

In the subsequent coalition negotiations, a state government led by Jóannes Eidesgaard was again formed , in which, however, Fólkaflokkurin and Sambandsflokkurin were replaced by Tjóðveldisflokkurin and Miðflokkurin as coalition partners.
