Løgtingswahl 1978

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The 1978 Løgting election in the Faroe Islands took place on November 7, 1978. It was the 8th election since the internal self-government ( heimastýri ) was obtained in 1948.

The clear winner of this election was the unionist Sambandsflokkurin , who won three more seats , with over 7% more votes . The two small parties Sjálvstýrisflokkurin and Framburðsflokkurin also won.

All other parties, on the other hand, suffered losses or could only hold their stake.

Nevertheless, the seat share of the previous coalition of Javnaðarflokkurin , Tjóðveldisflokkurin and Fólkaflokkurin was still enough to continue the government with the Social Democratic Prime Minister Atli Dam . Because although Javnaðarflokkurin and Fólkaflokkurin had lost in the election, they each received an additional seat in parliament, as the total number of seats had been increased from 26 to 32. The state government Atli Dam II was therefore followed by the state government Atli Dam III .
