The 2019 Løgtingswahl in the Faroe Islands took place on Saturday , August 31, 2019. It was the 20th parliamentary election since internal self-government ( heimastýri ) was achieved in 1948.

Parties available for election

Nine parties registered with the election officer for the election. In addition to the seven parties that have already been represented in parliament, two new parties are standing for election. On the one hand , there was Framtakið , a thematic party that campaigns for the release of cannabis for medicinal purposes, and on the other, Føroyaflokkurin , a party that has taken up classic liberalism . In particular, the party advocates regional issues and the strengthening of sparsely populated outlying areas compared to the metropolitan areas.
