Løgtingswahl 1954

The 1954 Løgtingswahl in the Faroe Islands took place on November 8, 1954. It was the second election after obtaining internal self-government ( heimastýri ) in 1948.

The big winner was the Tjóðveldisflokkurin with a vote increase of 14 percent, which led to four additional seats.

The biggest loser was the Fólkaflokkurin with over 11 percent . He had to give up two seats. The Sambandsflokkurin and the Javnaðarflokkurin suffered only slight losses and only the Social Democrats lost a seat.

At the same time, Kjartan Mohr, who shortly afterwards founded Framburðsflokkurin , also moved into Løgting, an independent MP.
