Toponymy and History

The name of the landscape protection area is made up of the names of the Füllbruch and Vokkenau tubs . Both names can be documented for the 16th century, when the area belonged to the city of Durlach . Vokkenau (also Vockenau or Fockenau ) is traced back to the old German male name Focko . Füllbruch is derived from foals and refers to the earlier use as Durlach cattle pasture. Parts of the filling quarry were still being used for agriculture in the 19th century.

Landscape protection has existed since January 1988.
