Taiho Shichau zo: The Movie (1999)

You're under arrest! ( Japanese 逮捕 し ち ゃ う ぞ Taiho Shichau zo ) is a manga series by the Japanese illustrator Kōsuke Fujishima , which appeared in Japan from 1987 to 1992. The work was implemented as an anime and television series.

content

The two traffic police officers Miyuki Kobayakawa (Japanese 小早川 美幸 ) and Natsumi Tsujimoto ( 辻 本 夏 実 ) live together and work as partners in the fictional Bokuto precinct in the Sumida district of Tokyo . Her company car is a tuned Honda Today , which Miyuki drives like a racing car.

Miyuki is not only a good driver, but also a technical genius. In addition to the Today, she has also converted various other vehicles in the area. She is usually polite and shy, but when it comes to “her” vehicles that can change quickly. She is in love with Ken Nakajima ( 中 嶋 剣 ), a colleague from the motorcycle patrol. However, neither of them admit their feelings for each other. Natsumi has many bad qualities compared to her partner Miyuki. She tends to be lazy, often overslept, and has a big appetite. She is an excellent motorcyclist and sometimes has inhuman strength. She fell in love with the head of the traffic department. In the anime, she later meets mountain rescuer Shoji Tokairin ( 東 海林 将 司 ) and falls in love with him.

The manga does not describe how Miyuki and Natsumi get to know each other. In the anime version, Natsumi is transferred to the Bokuto district. She is late on the first day of work and takes a forbidden shortcut with her Honda Motocompo . She is seen and followed by the police. Finally, she almost runs over a cat and is confronted - by Miyuki, her new partner. Natsumi is not very enthusiastic about her at first, but after their first joint effort, the worries have dissipated. They move in together because Miyuki still has space in her apartment and lives closer to the station.

The traffic department of the Bokuto district rarely has to deal with criminals. Often it is simply a matter of traffic, often with car chases. Miyuki and Natsumi have to deal with Strike Man ( ス ト ラ イ ク 男 ) on a regular basis. This self-proclaimed superhero usually fights with excessive means for a nonsensical cause. Another recurring problem is a scooter driver who their driver's license for a carte blanche holding with which they can ignore traffic rules.

vehicles

Kosuke Fujishima has a weakness for vehicles, which he shows in You're Under Arrest . Drawings of cars and motorcycles are mostly detailed, and some technical details are given on individual pages between the chapters. According to this information, the two-cylinder engine of the Today was drilled out from 560 to 600 cm³ displacement and retrofitted with a TD-025 turbocharger . This gives the car 80 hp. There is also a nitro . The tires are 185/65 R13. The car comes from the first series, which started in 1985. Natsumi's Motocompo has been converted into a police version with blue lights and is ready for use in the trunk of Today.
