Tala Mungongo is a village and a municipality in the Angolan province of Malanje.

The Angolan author Filipe Correia de Sá published a novel in April 2014, which he named after this place and which is based on a local legend.

Geography and traffic

The place is located at an altitude of 1150 meters on a plateau about 90 kilometers east of the provincial capital Malanje and 80 kilometers northwest of the district town Cambundi-Catembo .

Since 2009, the place has an asphalt road connecting it to the county town of Cambundi-Catembo, the national road (Estrada Nacional) number 230.

administration

Tala Mungongo is the seat of a municipality of the same name (Comuna) in the district ( Município ) of Cambundi-Catembo , in the province of Malanje . The municipality has 1639 inhabitants (2010 estimate). From now on, the 2014 census should provide reliable population data.

Population and economy

The local ethnic group is the Twokwo. The Tchianda dance, similar to samba, is popular .

The community's population lives predominantly from agriculture, which is practiced here almost exclusively in subsistence farming . By granting agricultural loans for the agricultural production cooperatives, the municipal administration expects an increase in production beyond the company's own needs in the future.
