Talbutal is a short to medium-acting barbiturate with a predominantly sedative and hypnotic effect. Structurally, it is a derivative of barbituric acid and an isomer of butalbital . No preparation based on Talbutal is approved in Germany. In animal experiments with rats, Talbutal showed an LD 50 value after oral intake of 57.5 mg / kg body weight.
