Talpa de Allende (mostly just Talpa ) is a small town with about 10,000 inhabitants in the state of Jalisco in western Mexico ; it is the capital of the municipality of the same name and has been classified as Pueblo Mágico since 2015 .

Location and climate

The small town of Talpa de Allende is a good 200 km (driving distance) southwest of the metropolis of Guadalajara at an altitude of approx. 1350  m ; the famous seaside resort of Puerto Vallarta is approx. 130 km to the northwest. history

The previously barely or not at all populated place was possibly on the murderous path of the conquistador Nuño Beltrán de Guzmáns to the then still unknown northwest of Mexico; it was officially founded by the Spanish in 1585 as Santiago de Talpa ; there is hardly any news for the time after that. During the French occupation of Mexico (1861-1867), the place was left twice by its residents. In 1885 he received city rights under the name Talpa de Allende ; the nickname is an honoring memory of the independence fighter Ignacio Allende (1769–1811).

Attractions
