Tamara Asseyev

Tamara Constance Asseyev (born February 4, 1943 ) is an American film producer and author.

Live and act

Tamara Asseyev grew up in California . She first attended Mayfield School and, until 1961, South Pasadena High School. She then studied theater at Marymount College (later merged into Loyola Marymount University ) and graduated in 1965 with a BA. She then obtained her Masters degree from the University of California, Los Angeles . Her thesis dealt with the Los Angeles Music Center , a cultural institution to which she later remained connected, including as a member of the Amazing Blue Ribbon association .

In 1966, Asseyev appeared in three episodes of the TV comedy series My Three Sons as an actress in front of the camera, but then turned permanently to film production. Her career began as assistant to producer Roger Corman . Together they worked on eight films, which include The Trip and Chicago Massacre gehörten.1968 Aseyev produced a five-minute prologue for the horror movie The Pit and the Pendulum (1961), since the film is too short for the intended TV program slot at ABC was .

Corman’s New World Pictures appeared as a distributor on some of Asseyev’s later productions . In this way she met the director of the film distributor Alexandra Rose . The two decided to work together as producers, starting with the comedy Drive-In in 1976 . The climax of their collaboration and greatest success as a producer was the drama Norma Rae - A Woman Is Her Husband , for which they were awarded an Oscar nomination.

In 1984 Asseyev founded her own film production company, Tamara Asseyev Productions, in Los Angeles. So she produced (mainly as an executive producer ) in the 1980s some television films such as The Double Life of Kathy McCormick and Deadly Galaxie .

Asseyev has also published three humorous, illustrated books with co-author Elizabeth Nickles , in which cats are the protagonists. She also worked as a talent scout for EP Dutton. She is committed to the promotion of the arts, including a founding member of the Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles .
