Tamba Hali Boimah (* 3. November 1983 in Gbarnga , Liberia ) is a former American American Footballer in the National Football League (NFL). He played 12 seasons for the Kansas City Chiefs as an outside linebacker and was called up to the Pro Bowl six times .

college

Hali attended Pennsylvania State University and played college football for their team, the Nittany Lions, from 2002 to 2005 . He played both as a defensive tackle and as a linebacker , won several titles with his team, was nominated for various selections and received repeated awards for his achievements.

NFL

In the 2006 NFL Draft , he was surprisingly selected by the Kansas City Chiefs in the first round . In the same year, Hali received US citizenship . He was already convincing in preparation, where his uncompromising game earned him the nickname "The TambaHawk" and he was able to prevail as the starting defensive end . This position he held the next seasons, where he was used both on the left and on the right side. From 2009 he played as an outside linebacker and was able to improve his performance again. From 2010 to 2014 he was nominated for the Pro Bowl . In March 2015, it was announced that Hali is foregoing $ 3 million in the upcoming season in order to stay with the Chiefs who would otherwise have problems with the salary cap .
In 2017, Hali was only used in five games due to an injury. In March he was sacked by his team after 12 seasons.
