Tamzin Thomas (born October 6, 1997 ) is a South African sprinter .

Athletic career

Tamzin Thomas gained her first international experience at the 2013 Youth World Championships in Donetsk , where she was eliminated in the semi-finals of the 100-meter run in 11.82 seconds . Two years later she won the Junior African Championships in Addis Ababa in 11.69 s over 100 meters and won the silver medal in the South African 4 x 100 meter relay in 46.49 s. In 2016, she made it to the semi-finals at the African Championships in Durban, Germany, in the 200-meter run , in which, however, she no longer started. She also won the relay in 43.66 s. Then she reached the semi-finals at the U20 World Championships in Bydgoszcz over 100 and 200 meters, in which she was eliminated with 11.71 s and 24.49 s, respectively. In addition, she could not qualify for the final with the season in 45.98 s. In 2017 she took part in the Summer Universiade in Taipei , where she was eliminated in both individual competitions in 11.77 s and 23.86 s in the semifinals and was disqualified with the relay in the preliminary run. In 2018 she made it to the semi-finals at the African Championships in Asaba over 200 meters, in which she did not start. In addition, she was fourth with the season in 45.63 s. At the IAAF World Relays 2019 in Yokohama , she could not finish the run with the 4 x 100 meter relay. In July she reached the semifinals at the Summer Universiade in Naples over 100 meters, in which she was eliminated with 11.62 s, as well as over 200 meters with 23.66 s. In addition, she finished seventh in the 4 x 400 meter relay in 3: 35.97 minutes. Then she reached the semi-finals over 200 meters at the Africa Games in Rabat , in which she was eliminated with 24.07 s. In addition, she won the silver medal behind Nigeria in the 4 x 100 meter relay in 44.61 s.

In 2019 Thomas won the gold medal in the 200-meter run at the South African Athletics Championships .
