Tanguy Nef comes from Veyrier in the canton of Geneva and is studying computer science and economics at Dartmouth College . He competes for the Swiss Academic Ski Association (SAS) Geneva.
He started skiing at the age of eight. He competed in his first FIS races at the age of 15. After his European Cup debut in January 2016, Nef completed his first races in the Nor-Am Cup in Mont Sainte-Anne , but did not get beyond a 25th slalom rank. At his first Junior World Championship in Sochi , he finished 18 in slalom and 32 in giant slalom. A year later, he was ranked 15 in giant slalom and 24 in slalom in Åre . The 2017/18 Nor-Am Cup season was successful for Nef. He won two races (slalom in Panorama and giant slalom in Stowe ) and took third place in the giant slalom classification.
On November 18, 2018, he made his World Cup debut in the Levi slalom and finished 11th in a talent test. The following January he achieved another top result with 13th place in Zagreb and qualified for the World Championships in Åre . There he finished 29th in his favorite discipline. In January 2020, he finished sixth in the Madonna di Campiglio night slalom and was among the top ten for the first time.
