Tanja Paulitz

Tanja Paulitz (* 1966 in Baden-Baden ) is a German sociologist and university professor .

life and work

After studying sociology , German , Slavic and educational science at the Universities of Marburg , Bochum and Frankfurt am Main , Tanja Paulitz completed her doctorate in 2004 at the University of Kassel . She then worked as a research assistant at the TU Berlin ; from 2006 Tanja Paulitz conducted research at the inter-university research center for technology, work and culture in Graz on the development of technical sciences in German-speaking countries. She then worked as an assistant professor at the Institute for Sociology at the Karl-Franzens University in Graz . There she completed her habilitation in 2011. She has been a visiting professor at the University of California and Cornell University in the USA. In the 2012/13 winter semester Tanja Paulitz accepted the professorship for Special Sociology and Empirical Social Research at the Julius Maximilians University of Würzburg . From the summer semester 2013 she was professor for sociology with a focus on gender and technology at RWTH Aachen University . Tanja Paulitz has been a professor at the Institute for Sociology at the Technical University of Darmstadt since October 2016 .

Paulitz researches and teaches in the field of sociology of culture and knowledge . The focus of her work is on research into the processes of mechanization and the job description of women and men in the natural and engineering sciences. She analyzes and describes gender norms and gender roles in the world of technology.
