Tannenberg is a part of the municipality of Burggen in the Upper Bavarian district of Weilheim-Schongau .
location
The parish village of Tannenberg is about two and a half kilometers west of Burggen. It is crossed by the WM 12 district road.
history
The place was named after the former castle of the baronial von Tannenberg family, whose most important representative was Berthold von Tannenberg, mentioned in 1219 in the entourage of Emperor Friedrich II .
In 1346 the village passed to the bishopric of Augsburg . The former castle was burned down during the Peasants' War in 1525 and rebuilt by Bishop Otto Truchseß von Waldburg .
Before the municipal reform , Tannenberg was an independent municipality with seven districts:
On May 1, 1978, the community was dissolved. The main town of Tannenberg, Bernried and Hausenried were incorporated into Burggen, the remaining districts became part of the municipality of Bernbeuren .
