The Tanzinsel is a major event with electronic music in Gemünden am Main . It was first held in 2013 as Tanzinsel Open Air and has grown to 10,000 visitors to date.

history

The Open Air took place for the first time on August 31, 2013 as a day festival. The first event already attracted 5,000 visitors to the three-river city of Gemünden am Main. In order to reduce noise pollution in the late evening hours, the organizer and the city of Gemünden agreed on an event period from 10 a.m. to midnight with the music ending at 11 p.m. The venue is the Steinwiese. The festival site is located directly between the banks of the Main and a harbor basin, which means that 3/4 of the land masses are enclosed by water.

In 2014, due to the conditions on the festival site and the growing number of visitors, the security requirements were significantly increased. In order to create better accessibility for ambulance vehicles and fire engines, a second access route had to be created. The organizers state that in the second year the scope of the open air was not only recorded regionally, but significantly beyond. Visitors from all over Germany and Europe ensured a number of visitors of 6500. Thus, the maximum number of visitors for the time being was reached and in 2014 the dance island was sold out.

In 2015, a political agreement was reached to increase the number of visitors to 10,000. The maximum number of visitors was reached directly in the first attempt and thus the Tanzinsel Open Air 2015 was sold out again.

In 2016, the focus was increasingly on cooling options (water spray guns, etc.), a more effective water supply and shaded areas for the 10,000 visitors, as well as a significant increase in the on-site decorations with which the visitors could interact. The Tanzinsel Open Air 2016 was sold out.

In 2017, Sven Väth , & ME and Adam Port (Keinemusik) came to the sold-out 5-year anniversary .

The Tanzinsel offers its 10,000 visitors a festival stage (approx. 100 square meters), a more or less elaborate decoration and a continuous musical program with national and international DJs. A big fireworks display signals the end of the event every year.

There have already been numerous innovations over the years. On the one hand, the main stage was enlarged further due to the increasing number of visitors and in terms of technology and decoration it was continuously expanded.

Venue (site)

The venue is the Steinwiese immediately south of the port of Gemünden am Main in the Main-Spessart district, directly on federal road 26 . Due to its location, the Steinwiese is also often used to relax, especially in summer, and also for fishing on the Main and in the harbor basin. The border around 3/4 of the event area with water gave the Open Air its name. According to the organizer, the event location provides an impressive atmosphere in nature with a view of the Main and the Scherenburg .

Sightseeing flights over the festival area are offered or you can get an overview of the Tanzinsel Open Air with a 60 m lifting platform.
