Hum Garbage was founded in 2011. After a demo that sold over 200 times, the first SNG EP on the Spastic Fantastic label and a sampler contribution to the compilation Von Heimat you can't speak here - 13 musical greetings from the residential city of Stuttgart , the band signed on the independent label Sounds of Subterrania from Hamburg , as the band committed themselves to the DIY idea. The album was created in Milberg Studios and was produced by the studio's owner, Ralv Milberg .

Music genre

Musically, the album is somewhere between postpunk and noise . The music is spherical and a dense sound floor is created. The music is compared with that of the band Die Nerven , also from Stuttgart , as well as the Fehlfarben and the short-lived Cockbirds . The texts are highly ironic and black humoristic . They are presented in a kind of angry staging that is reminiscent of Dada , among other things . With the album, Human Abfall together with bands like Die Nerven laid the groundwork for an indie scene from Stuttgart between avant-garde and punk, which is sometimes referred to as the "New Stuttgart School" based on the Hamburg School .

reception

The daily newspaper voted the album on its blog on August 6, 2014 as the “album of the week”. Christian Ihle noted:

“Musically, Human Garbage is by no means the gutter punk that their band name suggests, but like their nerve colleagues have obviously been socialized with noise like postpunk , even though the Sonic Youth echoes of the nerves are far from them. In terms of text, Human Abfall is aiming pretty much exactly in the middle between the late Peter Hein and the unfortunately only briefly existing Cockbirds , which back then eight years ago did such an excellent final analysis of all Berlin-Mitte neuroses. "

The record was also highly praised in the Ox-Fanzine . In his review, Kalle Stille described them as “one of the most important records of 2014, if not the most important. An absolute must! ”.

The Plastic Bomb wrote:

“When you listen, it quickly becomes clear that HUMAN WASTE is something special. They create intense, cold soundscapes and bring them to collapse again. It could be the end of civilization soundtrack. He will make it easier for us to die. "

- Micha : Plastic Bomb

Spiegel Online discussed the album in its column "Abgehört: The most important music of the week" together with Trümmer and Alte Sau :

"Human garbage live in Stuttgart and Berlin, and playing caustic, noisy, claustrophobic," exhausting "post-punk / noise rock, which excludes all people who basically don't want to be annoyed anymore as recipients. To a wonderfully sinister guitar saw, mnemonics are repeated manically: "Cats, with their little paws, stroll to the blood pots of the bourgeoisie", "Waiter, please again two Prosecco, pronto, pronto!", "Press the three! Press the three ! Press three to be connected to one of our friendly clerks! ". And: "Germany, no thanks - no vacation in Absurdistan." It's grueling or great, depending on how many of your own problems you bring into the relationship. "

- Jan Wigger : Listened: The most important music of the week
