Taswell Baird
Taswell Joseph Baird Jr. (born June 24, 1922 in St. Louis , Missouri , † November 22, 2002 in Oakland ) was an American jazz trombonist .
Live and act
Baird played in the early 1940s with the Jay McShann Orchestra, Andy Kirk and His Clouds Of Joy and from 1944 with Louis Armstrong , Billy Eckstine and His Orchestra and the Dizzy Gillespie Big Band , with which he performed at Carnegie Hall in 1947 . In the field of jazz he was involved in 33 recording sessions between 1941 and 1947. For most of his 50-year career, he has toured with Dizzy Gillespie and Lena Horne . He moved to Oakland in the late 1970s . He died in 2002 of injuries resulting from a robbery.
