action
Max Frost suffers from his domineering mother Mrs. Flatow: while she tries with all her might to raise her son to be a perfect young man, Max dreams of a great career as a musician. Finally, he can no longer stand it with his mother and runs away from home. He soon became a successful pop singer and millionaire. When he learns that the United States will introduce voting rights from the age of 15, Max Frost decides to become the next President of the United States of America. When he surprisingly succeeds in victory, he introduces new laws shortly afterwards: the youth should have fun, all other citizens older than 35 years old should be deported to concentration camp-like camps and put in a good mood with LSD.
Reviews
The lexicon of international films wrote: “ A technically adept staged vision of the future with satirical tips against the cult of youth, the role of the mass media and the conflict between citizens and anti-movement. Ambiguous in its conceptually only rudimentarily thought-out conception, but not uninteresting as a contribution to the understanding of the 68 generation despite occasional distortions . "
The Protestant Film Observer drew the following conclusion: “ Cinematic impressive, but too one-sided and grossly simplistic in the use of the material. Therefore, even for adults, it is hardly worth seeing, let alone discussing. "
Awards
The film received an Academy Award nomination for Best Editing .
