The Tauern rock flower ( Draba pacheri ) is a species of rock flower ( Draba ). It occurs only in the Eastern Alps and Northern Carpathians .

Vegetative characteristics
The Tauern rock flower is a perennial , herbaceous plant and reaches heights of 5 to 20 centimeters. The leaves and stems are covered with star hairs ( trichomes ). The star hairs have a short stem, are almost sessile, their rays are arranged in one plane. Apart from the basal leaves, there are no to three, rarely up to seven, stem leaves on the stem.
Generative characteristics
The flowering period is between May and August. The hermaphrodite flowers are fourfold. The four white petals are 3 to 4 millimeters long.
The pod is 3.5 to 8 millimeters long. The pen is intended for fruit time 0.2 to 0.6 millimeters long.
The Tauern rock florets have octoploidy with a chromosome number of 2n = 64.

The pollination is done by insects or by self-pollination .
Occurrence and endangerment
The Tauern rock flower occurs in the Eastern Alps in the Hohe Tauern , in the Seetal Alps and on the Koralpe . Except in the Eastern Alps, it is also found in the Northern Carpathians. In Austria the Tauern rock flower is considered endangered.
The Tauern rock flower thrives in the subalpine to alpine altitude range . It grows in gaps in the lawn, crevices, rock rubble and snow valleys . In the Alps it reaches its optimum in plant communities of Androsacenion vandellii.
Taxonomy
Draba pacheri was first published by Dionys Rudolf Josef Stur . The specific epithet pacheri honors the Carinthian botanist and pastor of Tröpolach , David Pacher (1816–1902).
