The summit is the most north-westerly branch of the Erzgebirge plateau and only rises imperceptibly against it (approx. 9 meters). The present-day desert of Erbendorf was located near the Taufichtig .

Paths to the summit

The mountain can be reached via the yellow-marked Crottendorf - Tellerhäuser hiking trail , which touches the summit and makes the nature reserve accessible to hikers. There are other, small paths around the summit away from the larger hiking routes.
