World tug of war championship
World championships in tug of war have been held since 1975 . The tournament has been held every two years since 1986. At the 2008 World Championships in Sweden two titles were won by women and four by men in the categories up to 560 kg, 640 kg, 680 kg and 720 kg. World championships for junior selections are also held.
A distinction must be made between indoor and outdoor world championships.
