Tayinloan is a small town in the Scottish Council Area Argyll and Bute . It is located on the east coast of the Kintyre Peninsula about 25 km southwest of Tarbert and 27 kilometers northwest of Campbeltown . The 1971 census recorded 100 inhabitants in Tayinloan.

Tayinloan is located directly on the A83 , which connects Kintyre with the Central Belt from Campbeltown . There is no railway connection. There is a jetty on the coast, which is regularly served by ferries. There is currently only one connection to Ardminish on Gigha Island . The five-kilometer journey across Gigha Sound takes around 20 minutes.
Attractions
At Tayinloan there are three monuments from the highest Scottish monument category A. The mansion Killean House dates from the 1880s. John Burnet acted as the architect of the house . The 12th-century Killean Chapel is now only in ruins. Numerous medieval tombstones and cross slabs can be seen in the surrounding cemetery . The semi-detached Doll's Houses are designed by John James Burnet and were completed in 1895.
