Te Paki is a small settlement in the Far North District of Northland on the North Island of New Zealand .
geography
The settlement is located around 14.5 km southeast of Cape Reinga and around 23 km northwest of Te Kao on the Aupōuri Peninsula . The New Zealand State Highway 1 runs through Te Paki and connects the settlement with Kaitaia , which is around 80 km south-southeast . The closest settlement on the highway is Waitiki Landing about 4 km southeast.
tourism
The settlement has a driveway to Ninety Mile Beach , about 6 km to the south-east , which can be reached via a road to the over 100 m high shifting dunes. The shifting sand dunes themselves are very popular among tourists as they on their steep slopes with Surfboard s can slide down well.
