Te Raupo is a small settlement in the Far North District of Northland on the North Island of New Zealand .
geography
The settlement is located around 1.3 km north of Houhora on the west bank of Houhora Harbor , a natural harbor on the east coast of the Aupōuri Peninsula . The New Zealand State Highway 1 runs through the settlement and connects it directly to Houhora . The nearest larger town is Kaitaia , which is about 40 km south-southeast.
