Tears was a girl group from Switzerland.
Emergence
The Swiss television broadcaster TV3 started with a Swiss edition based on the internationally broadcasted casting show Popstars , in which around 1200 girls applied.
At the end of the casting on November 11, 2001, the band Tears had been determined. This name was derived from the first letters of the girls' first names:
- T iffany (born May 6, 1980) from Kirchberg
- E velyn (born December 6, 1980) from Zurich
- A manda Nikolic (born September 14, 1978) from Wettingen
- R omina (born December 7, 1982) from Bern
Career
The first single MUSIC immediately reached first place in the Swiss charts. With the second single Dreamin ' there were scheduling problems, the title was only released over a year after its first release. The band could not repeat the success of the first title. The announced album En Rouge was to follow shortly thereafter, but was postponed several times and finally appeared only after the group's second single. Former Modern Talking singer Thomas Anders was named among the producers of the album .
Tears appeared as the opening act for the pop star band Bro'Sis, which was formed at the same time, in Zurich's Hallenstadion and had various appearances at home and abroad. The CD bonus track Ça plane pour moi was released as the third single .
The band announced a six-month break that lasted over a year. The then released single I Found Love did not achieve the expected success. After the band had produced the soundtrack for the movie Mädchen Mädchen 2 , from which the singles ( Funky Freakshow and Distorted Overdrive ) emerged, they announced the split in December 2004.
After the separation
After the split, Amanda was the most prominent in the media. She moderated on VIVA quiz shows. On September 26th, 2008 her first solo album was released under the stage name Gogomandy, which was created through collaboration with the Swiss DJ Gogo . In addition, she supported Michael von der Heide at the Eurovision Song Contest 2010 as a background singer for the contribution Il pleut de l'or , who did not qualify for the final. Amanda now works as a freelance photographer.
Evelyn released various singles with the Swiss DJ Mike Candys between 2010 and 2012, which reached the top positions in the international charts. Through these placements and various gold records, Evelyn became more successful than Tears.
