The TechniSat Digital GmbH develops and manufactures products ranging from consumer electronics and information technology. The company, based in Daun in Rhineland-Palatinate, is one of the leading German manufacturers of televisions and digital receivers . TechniSat is part of Techniropa Holding GmbH and the Lepper Foundation.

history

Headquarters in Daun in the Vulkaneifel

In 1987 Peter Lepper founded TechniSat in Daun / Eifel to produce satellite products for end consumers. One year later, they moved into the offices in the newly built TechniPark in Daun, where the company's headquarters are still located today. In 2008 the eight-story TechniTurm was built as a further office building in the TechniPark.

In 1989 Astra started the Europe-wide distribution of the four German-language programs RTL , Sat.1 , ProSieben and Teleclub , which meant that there was strong demand for reception systems for the Astra satellite, from which TechniSat also benefited.

Production at TechniSat Vogtland GmbH

The first flat satellite antenna - the TechniSat SATENNE with an edge length of 38 centimeters - was introduced in 1990 to receive the satellite TV-Sat 2 and was recognized for both its reception and its features. In 1998 TechniSat presented the first digital receiver (DigiCom 1) and started producing television sets in Staßfurt . In the same year TechniSat signed a worldwide exclusive contract with the star designer Luigi Colani for his Colani television design.

In the course of the start of digital terrestrial television in Berlin and Brandenburg in 2002, TechniSat produced DVB-T receivers of the DigiPal 1 type. At the International Radio Exhibition (IFA) 2007 TechniSat presented the HDready LCD product line HD-Vision 32 with integrated multi-media Reception tuner as well as the multi-tennis in Berlin.

In 2011 the first TechniSat-ISIO-NetSeher - internet-capable digital televisions of the MultyVision ISIO series - were delivered. In 2013 the company expanded its range to include tablet PCs, and in 2014 energy-saving lamps from the TechniLux series were added. At the IFA 2014, TechniSat presents its first UHD television, smartphones and a greatly expanded DAB + product range.

On February 1, 2016, the company announced that it had sold 50 percent of the automotive division to the Chinese automotive supplier Joyson Electronics and its subsidiary Preh . From now on, this area would be run as "Preh TechniSat Car Connect GmbH" within the Joyson Group. The purchase price was 180 million euros.

Products

TechniSat claims to be one of the leading German manufacturers of consumer electronics products. The product range of the medium-sized company includes televisions, digital receivers, digital radios, smart home and other lifestyle electronic devices.

The Automotive division, which was sold in 2016, offered radio and navigation systems for international automobile manufacturers for over 15 years . In 2012, TechniSat received the Volkswagen Group Award 2012 as a supplier to the Volkswagen Group .

Corporate headquarters

The headquarters of TechniSat Digital GmbH with the management and the departments Customer Management, Project Purchasing, Controlling, Marketing, Sales, Human Resources and Legal, Accounting and Product Management is the place of foundation in Daun. The customer and logistics center of TechniSat Digital GmbH is not far from the headquarters. This has a high-bay warehouse, a large order picking hall and an exhibition area to which seminar and training rooms are attached.

Former research & development

From 1990 to 2020, the Dresden location served as a research and development center in the field of satellite and digital technology. In 1997 the automotive area was added. Up until the sale in 2016, TechniSat developed not only branded devices such as digital receivers or digital televisions, but also customer-specific OEM concepts for the automotive industry.

On February 28, 2020, Bender GmbH & Co. KG, based in Grünberg / Hessen, took over the Dresden development center.

TechniSat Staßfurt

Since 1998, the former RFT plant in Staßfurt near Magdeburg has served as the production site for TechniSat Teledigital GmbH , which now focuses on the production of digital televisions. It is the company's largest production site and also functions as a service center for specialist dealers and end customers. In the last few years TechniSat has systematically invested in the renewal and modernization of the plant.

TechniSat Vogtland GmbH in Schöneck / Vogtl.

TechniSat Vogtland GmbH was established in Schöneck / Vogtl on June 1, 1992 . which has since produced HDTV receivers , decryption modules, multi-switches, single-cable solutions and satellite installation products. The ISO 9001: 2008 certified location was modernized in 2011.
