history

When designing the aircraft, the specifications of the " FAR Part 23" and " EASA CS-23" regulations were taken into account. When designing Tecnam worked with the airline Cape Air from Massachusetts together, which includes a letter of intent has submitted for the purchase of 100 machines with which their outdated Cessna 402 to be replaced. The rollout was on April 1, 2016 and the first flight on July 21, 2016. By April 2017, the prototype had completed more than 100 flight hours. After the first flight of the second prototype on 22 December 2017 and 600 hours flight testing of the two aircraft made at the end 2018, the EASA - type certification .

On October 16, 2019, Cape Air unveiled its first two P2012s, which it had received a few weeks earlier, at the Barnstable Municipal Airport in Hyannis. At the beginning of December 2019, the new aircraft started regular service, initially on the 200-kilometer route from Boston to Rutland . Another 18 firmly ordered aircraft are to follow, and there are still options for 90 aircraft.

As a second customer Zil Air (received Seychelles ) their first P2012 Traveler, after a six-day, 8300-kilometer-long ferry flight from the Italian on 29 November 2019 the airfield Capua on the airport Mahé arrived. Zil Air has options for two further machines, which should also be equipped with the optionally available air conditioning system.
