Ted Ross

Theodore "Ted" Ross Roberts (born June 30, 1934 in Zanesville , Ohio ; † September 3, 2002 in Dayton , Ohio) was an American actor .

Life

Ted Ross was an African-American actor who had lived in Dayton, Ohio since he was seven. His best-known film role was 1978 that of the lion in The Wiz - The magical land next to Diana Ross and Michael Jackson . He already played this role in the Broadway production of the musical in 1975. Other well-known films were Ragtime by Miloš Forman and Arthur - No Child of Sadness , in which he acted on the side of Dudley Moore and Liza Minnelli . He made his last film appearance in 1991 in Terry Gilliam's drama King of the Fishermen .
