Dudley Moore
Dudley Stuart John Moore CBE (born April 19, 1935 in Dagenham , England , † March 27, 2002 in Plainfield , New Jersey ) was a British comedian , actor and musician .
Life
In the 1960s, Dudley Moore brought out numerous instrumental songs as a musician (including composer, pianist) in the field of easy listening , blues and jazz, including Moon Time (1967), Sweet Mouth (1967), Italy (1968), 30 Is A Dangerous Age Cynthia (1968), Head First (1968). Several LPs appeared under his formation The Dudley Trio Moore .
Dudley Moore began his comedian career as well as a writer and performer in British revues . While studying music in Oxford (organ, piano, composition) he met Alan Bennett, Peter Cook and Jonathan Miller, who formed the comedy group Beyond the Fringe , a kind of predecessor of Monty Python's Flying Circus, in the early 1960s . Together with Peter Cook, he appeared in various two-man shows and had his first film appearances in Last Greetings from Uncle Joe (1966), Don't trust anyone over 30 (1968), Afterwards (1969) and The Hound of Baskerville (1977).
In 1981 he stood in front of the camera with Liza Minnelli in Arthur , for which he received an Oscar nomination for Best Actor . Other films from the 1980s and 1990s could not repeat this success, e.g. B. Oh, Moses! (1980), Six Weeks (1982), Lovesick - The Lovesick Psychiatrist (1983), and Nothing Is Crazy Than Truth (1990). In 1993 he briefly had his own sitcom called Dudley .
In his first marriage he was married to actress Suzy Kendall from June 1968 until the divorce in September 1972 . In September 1975 he married the actress Tuesday Weld . The marriage, which was divorced in July 1980, resulted in a son. From 1988 to 1991 he was married to Brogan Lane and from 1994 to 1998 with Nicole Rothschild, with whom he had another son. These marriages also ended in divorce. Dudley Moore died on March 27, 2002 at the age of 66 from complications from pneumonia as a side effect of PSP .
