Ted Stamm
Theodore William (Ted) Stamm (born August 30, 1944 in Brooklyn , † June 6, 1984 in New York City ) was an American conceptual painter . His painting is monochrome and minimalist . Ted Stamm became known with Shaped Canvas .
life and work
Stamm initially studied graphic design at Hofstra University , but quickly switched to painting at Perle Fine and John Hopkins and also studied printing technology with Richard Pugliese . In 1968 he obtained a bachelor's degree . His work is inspired by Ad Reinhardt .
Ted Stamm's best-known series are Wooster , named after Wooster Street in SoHo , where he lived, and Dodger , named after the Brooklyn Dodgers baseball team .
Stamm was interested in aerodynamics and speed and gave form to these topics in the Zephyr series .
