Miles Teel Bivins (born November 22, 1947 in Amarillo , Texas , † October 26, 2009 there ) was an American politician and ambassador .

Bivins studied at Tulane University in New Orleans until 1970 and then attended Southern Methodist University in Dallas , where he graduated in 1974. In 1989 he was elected a Republican to the Texas Senate and served for the next 15 years until 2004 when he was named United States Ambassador to Sweden by President George W. Bush . During Bush's presidential campaigns in 2000 and 2004, Bivins had been one of Bush's most successful fundraisers . In 2006, Bivins resigned from his post as ambassador for health reasons.
