Matt Noveskey

Matthew "Matt" Noveskey (born June 16, 1976 in Adrian , Michigan ) is an American musician , singer , recording producer , guitarist , songwriter and bassist who is best known for his work with Blue October . He has been an integral part of the band since 1999. He also plays with the American alternative rock band At Plus Machines .

Life

Noveskey grew up in a musical family in northern Michigan. His uncle was a bass guitarist in a rock band. His brother plays drums and his grandfather played the guitar , piano and accordion . Inspired by his uncle, Noveskey started playing bass when he was 5 years old. His bass playing was influenced by bassists James Jamerson and Larry Graham .

Noveskey graduated from Sain Francis High School in Traverse City in 1994. He later attended several colleges in Michigan. At that time Noveskey was working as a waiter and played in several cafes with locally known groups, such as the Michigan band Switch . In 1998, Noveskey moved to Houston on the advice of an agent , where he auditioned for Blue October. In 1999 Noveskey was included in the band.

Career

Blue October (1999 - now)

In 1999 Noveskey joined the band after they broke up with their previous bassist Liz Mullally. In 2000 Noveskey played guitar and bass and was background singer on the 2000 album Consent to Treatment . He also created the artwork for this album together with singer Justin Furstenfeld . In 2002 Noveskey left the band for health reasons and joined the band a year later. In 2005 he was again a permanent member of the group. During the absence of Noveskey, the band did not play the song You Make Me Smile at any concert. You Make Me Smile is the opener to the album Foiled , which was released in 2006.

(a +) machines (2002 - today)

During his absence from Blue October Noveskey formed the band At Plus Machines (short: (a + machines) ). She has so far released a 5-track demo and a live CD . The band toured with Blue October in 2006 to promote their new album Foiled .

Other Projects

Noveskey works when he is not on tour with his bands or producing an album as a recording producer for other bands. In 2008 he founded the recording studio with Chuck Alkazian , which he called 116. This studio now has a range from Austin to Detroit . He is also active as a solo musician. He has already been on stage with well-known musicians such as Casey McPherson , Johnny Goudie and Justin Furstenfeld . In 2007, Noveskey announced that they would found a new band with songwriter Ryan Holley that would produce music for soundtracks.
