Isabel García Tejerina (born October 9, 1968 in Valladolid ) is a Spanish politician of the Partido Popular and manager .

Career

García Tejerina studied Agricultural Engineering at the Polytechnic University of Madrid and Law at the University of Valladolid .

In April 2000, García Tejerina became State Secretary in the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food under Minister Miguel Arias Cañete , after having worked in the ministry under his predecessor Loyola de Palacio . After losing the parliamentary elections in 2004 , she switched to the private sector and took on responsibility for strategic planning at the fertilizer manufacturer Fertiberia . After the PP under Mariano Rajoy came back to government in the 2011 parliamentary elections , she returned to the post of State Secretary in the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food in February 2012. In April 2014, Cañete resigned from his ministerial office to run as the PP's lead candidate for the 2014 European elections, and Tejerina became his successor. In the 2015 parliamentary elections , she entered the Congreso de los Diputados for the first time as a member , and in the early elections in 2016 , as there was no government majority, she was re-elected to parliament. In the subsequent minority government under Rajoy, she remained in the ministerial office before a change of government took place on June 1, 2018, following a constructive vote of no confidence .

In April 2019, García Tejerina took over the management of the PP campaign for the upcoming European elections in 2019 from the previous campaign manager Javier Maroto . In March 2020, she joined the consulting firm Ernst & Young .
