Templand is a small town in the Scottish Council Area Dumfries and Galloway . It is located around eight kilometers northwest of Lockerbie and around 15 kilometers northeast of Dumfries . The Kinnel Water runs directly to the west , into which the Water of Ae joins opposite the village .
history
A crannóg in a moor directly north of Templand and the remains of a ritual cremation are evidence of the earlier settlement of the area. With the Spedlins Tower of Jardines of Applegarth , also the nearby in the 1810s mansion Jardine Hall built, and the Elshieshields Tower originated in the 15th century, two Tower Houses in Templand.

With the Kinnel Bridge a crossing of the Kinnel Water was built near Templand in 1723. Today it leads the B7020 over the river, which forms the main road of the village and connects it to the A701 in the north at Beattock and to the A709 in the south at Lochmaben . A side road crossing in Templand leads to the A701 in the west and to the A74 (M) in the east .
