Teodor Romanić

Teodor Romanić (born March 4, 1926 in Bjelovar , Kingdom of Yugoslavia , † March 28, 2019 in Sarajevo ) was a Bosnian conductor , composer and university professor .

Life

He graduated from the Zagreb Music Academy with a degree in conducting in 1952 . He then worked as conductor of the orchestra of the People's Theater in Varaždin , and from 1956 at the Opera of the People's Theater in Sarajevo . He conducted other orchestras, including the Radio Orchestra of Radiotelevizija Sarajevo . He was temporarily president of the Yugoslavia Association of Music Artists (Savez muzičkih umjetnika Jugoslavije).

He taught first as a lecturer, later as a professor for conducting, orchestra, score playing and opera at the Music Academy of the University of Sarajevo . 1962/63 and 1967 to 1971 he was dean of the music academy. Since 1999 he has been a full professor at the Music Academy of the University of East Sarajevo .

Teodor Romanić was elected a corresponding member of the Academy of Sciences and Arts of Bosnia-Herzegovina in 2002 and a full member in 2008 . He has received numerous awards, including the Austrian Decoration of Honor for Science and Art .

Teodor Romanić is the father of the pianist Aleksandra Romanić (* 1958).
