Sananda Maitreya
Sananda Maitreya (born March 15, 1962 in New York as Terence Trent Howard ), better known as Terence Trent D'Arby , is an American singer .
Life
Terence Trent Howard was born and raised in New York. In high school he developed a passion for boxing and won a "Golden Gloves" championship. After studying journalism for a year at the University of Central Florida, he joined the United States Army in 1980 . There he served in Germany in the same unit as Elvis Presley at that time . From 1981 to 1984 he worked in the Frankfurt funk band The Touch .
His debut album Introducing the Hardline According to Terence Trent D'Arby , released in the summer of 1987, is his best known and most successful work. The album sold over a million copies in the first three days of its release and a total of twelve million copies. It includes his greatest hits If You Let Me Stay , Wishing Well and Sign Your Name , among others .
Terence Trent D'Arby received a Grammy in March 1988 for the best male R&B vocal performance . Since then he has released five albums, not including early recordings with The Touch in 1983, none of which matched the success of Introducing the Hardline According to Terence Trent D'Arby.
In 1999 he performed as the singer for rock group INXS at the opening ceremony of Stadium Australia .
In October 2001 he officially changed his name to Sananda Maitreya , moved from Los Angeles to Munich and founded his own label called Treehouse Publishing . In 2002 he moved to Milan , where he married the Italian television presenter and architect Francesca Francone in 2003 . With Terence Trent D'Arby, Sananda Maitreya no longer wants to be addressed, otherwise he sees himself as a slave, and he also suffered from post-traumatic stress disorder, since his record company barely supported him in 1989. Sananda Maitreya has her own YouTube channel.
