Terje Isungset (born May 4, 1964 in Geilo ) is a Norwegian jazz percussionist.

Act

Isungset played in various jazz bands in Bergen in the 1980s and made his record debut with Kenneth Sivertsen in 1984/1985 . He had been a member of the Orleysa group since 1988 , with whom he recorded two albums. He worked in various formations with the saxophonist Karl Seglem , a. a. trio Utla with the Fele player Håkon Høgemo . With Arne Anderdal he formed the duo Firmenningadn .

In 1997 he released his first own album Reise . His commissioned composition Floating Rhythms was performed at the Moldejazz Festival in 1999 . Duo albums appeared after 2000 with Frode Gjerstad , Didier Petit and Jurma Tapio . Isungset became known through performances with self-made instruments made of natural materials such as wood, stone, but above all ice. From 2003 several albums recorded with ice instruments were released. In 2006 he launched the Geilo ice music festival .

The album World of Glass was created in 2014 together with Arve Henriksen . As the name suggests: all of the instruments on it are made of glass, made by students of the Estonian Academy of Arts. Most of the recording was made live in front of an audience in Tallinn.
