The territorial prelate Bananal ( lat. : Territorialis Praelatura Bananalensis ) was in Brazil located Roman Catholic territorial prelate , located on the Ilha do Bananal .

history

The Territorial Prelature Bananal was on July 4, 1924 by Pope Pius XI. built from cessions of territory of the diocese of Porto Nacional and subordinated to the archdiocese of Mariana as a suffragan . On November 18, 1932, the territorial prelature of Bananal was subordinated to the Archdiocese of Goiás as a suffragan.

The Territorial Prelature Bananal was on March 25, 1956 by Pope Pius XII. with the Apostolic Constitution Ne quid filiis dissolved and the territory was incorporated into the Diocese of Goiás and the Territorial Prelature Cristalândia .

The only bishop was Cândido Bento Maria Penso OP .

The territorial prelature was 100,000 km². In 1950 there were 120,000 Catholics living in the territory of the Bananal Territorial Prelature. The territorial prelature was divided into six parishes and had eleven priests .
