Terrence "Terry" Dunfield (born February 20, 1982 in Vancouver , British Columbia ) is a former Canadian football player and current coach.

Career

Dunfield began playing soccer in his hometown of Vancouver at the Point Gray Soccer Club. In 1996 he came to Europe to the Manchester City Junior Academy . After four years he received his first professional contract there in 2000 and made his professional debut on the 38th matchday of the 2000/01 season in the home game against Chelsea , when he came on for Jeff Whitley on the 32nd minute . After Manchester City had to relegate after the season, Dunfield came to no further use for the club in the following season. In the summer of 2002 he left Manchester and moved to Bury FC , where he played 74 league games over the next five years. He scored five goals. In 2007 Dunfield moved to Macclesfield Town , where he scored twice in 61 games in two years. He played for Shrewsbury Town in the 2009-10 season . In the summer of 2010, Dunfield went back to Canada and moved to the Vancouver Whitecaps . 2011 moved to Toronto FC after two years . During the season he was named Most Valuable Player (MVP) within the club. After his contract, which had expired after two seasons, was not renewed and Dunfield could not find a club for the time being, he remained without a club until February 2014 before playing for Oldham Athletic in England on February 21 . At the end of the season he left the club and played for the Scottish club Ross County from October 2014 . Again without a club from summer 2015, Dunfield went back to Canada and played in the Canadian Soccer League for Toronto Atomic FC in the 2016 season .

National team

Dunfield was from 2000 several times in the squad of the Canadian U20 national team . From 2002 to 2003 he then played twice for the U23s before making his senior national team debut on May 30, 2010 against Bolivia . By 2013 he played 15 games for Canada. His only international goal was against Ecuador on June 1, 2011 .

Trainer

After the end of his active career, Dunfield completed a coaching education. After completing his UEFA B coaching license, he took over the U14 of Toronto FC .
